While I am nowhere near a place in my life to own a dog, and I am more likely to get cats, if I got a dog that wasn't a rescue special, I would like a bull terrier. I never thought of myself as breed-specific, but when I was researching Sylvia, I found this breed and feel in love with their goofy, eggplant-shaped faces. And they are nice dog-sized animals. Rather than glorified rats or small horses. With big paws.
Turns out they are very big with dog shows, with Rufus, a bull-terrier being the reigning champ.
"Terrier comes from the Latin word terra meaning ‘earth’ and according to the Westminster Kennel Club Guide Book definition, describes dogs with stamina, unwavering determination and courage to go to ground after their game... However, over the years their terrier traits have given them a reputation for being excellent guard dogs. Flip the coin, and they are also known for their unmatched loyalty and devotion to their owners." (courtesy of MSNBC.com)
And someone told me they laugh. This makes them sound even more awesome as pets. But what struck me is that these are qualities I look for in myself and other people. I guess there is something in the whole dogs matching their owners idea.

I have fallen in love with my Golden Retriever. Laid back, but fun loving. Wants to be a lap dog, but loves to take a good run any time you are ready. Eager to please and smart. I dont like the hair she sheds everywhere!
Of course, you're right, life's much merrier with a bull terrier... I'll be your cyberdog until you get a flesh-and-fur one if you like? Please come and visit my website, http://www.oniondog.com. I'm a real live canine celeb! Click on the pic of me on the home page and I'll show you a trick.
