Since my cold last weekend, I have been back on vampire hours. At first I thought it was the sudafed getting out of my system, or just my schedule working itself out. Apparently, my schedule has worked itself out, but it has decided against "normal business hours", opting instead for vampire hours. Whereas I used to head to bed around 1 and get up at 8.30, I am now wide-awake and impressively productive till at least 3AM, if not later. And given the chance, I sleep till noon, and maybe take a little nap around twilight. When I have to be at a 9AM class, I usually come home and take a nap till noon. Getting back from class at 3 or 6 or 10, I still feel like I have plenty of time to get stuff done. Maybe this is my body's way of laughing at long winter nights and SAD.
It's amazing how much better I feel when I keep the vampire hours. I can live on less sleep, feel more focused, and generally just a happier camper. Last night, I finished the Merleau-Ponty, read all of Servant of Two Masters, and did some writing and 2AM yoga. Now I just need to find a way to maintain this!
