After my all-Thai-all-the-time film class, I met up with some of the theater people to check out the opening of Bio-Modd at the Union Gallery.
OU invited a guest artist to assemble an original work here that began last quarter. The culmination is a self-cooling computer game. 5 people can play a Tron-like video game which heats algae, which feeds goldfish in cool water, which is pumped up to cool the larger computer. Or something like that. It's all very symbiotic, green and nifty. The setting doesn't so much lend itself to art, looking more like some geek's basement.
Afterwards, we headed across the street to the Union bar for the opening "reception" and DJs. Mostly us crowded around a wonky table with our beverages while Smokin' Fairy played Name That Video Game Theme, which is this artist's mix-in of choice.
I felt a little bad for staying out on a school night, but it's art.
