Tonight I met up with my Chicago cousins for dinner. We try to get together like once a month. The extra bonus was one of my cousins from San Francisco was also in town. I haven't seen him since we were like 12. And it is oddly comforting to know not much has changed. The four of us braced the less-than-stellar weather to go to Laschets, which is rather favored by the Ponies.
In the past, I have been almost as dubious of German food as I have been of English "cuisine". But this food was really good. Chicken paprikasch with spraetzel (super-yummy boiled/fried noodles) and red cabbage. And possibly the best beer I have ever had. Super smooth and tasty.
Totally worth the hassle of a new bus! (In case the CTA wasn't difficult enough, add the element of Chicago weather and it all goes to hell.)
